Funeral services were held July 6, 2019, at Holly Springs C.M.E.
Church in Bassfield for Mr. Curtis Louis “Pete” Jones, 71, who died
June 30, 2019 at his residence.
Rev. Maxine Price officiated with burial following in the Gray
Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carson.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Curtis L. Jones was born in Prentiss to the late Will Holloway and
Arida Funchess. Mr. Jones was a retired plumber who loved fishing,
watching cooking shows and fellowship with family and friends. He was
a member of the Hill Horse Posse of Grand Bay, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Irene Jones; sister, Mary Bryant;
and brothers, Bull Jones and Joe Jones.
He is survived by: significant other: Viola Jones; five children, Mia
Harper of Bassfield, Alfreda (Nicky) Morgan of Houston, Texas, Terry
(Denise) Jones of Smyrna, Tennessee, Alfe (Kevin) Tucker of Anchorage,
Alaska and Tameral McCain of Riverdale, Georgia; three step-children,
Gwendolyn Holmes of Moss Point, Warrick Holmes of Hurley and Wanda
Holmes of Gautier; brothers, Sam Jones of Moss Point, Harry Hones of
Pascagoula, Edward Jones of Grand Bay, Alabama, Billy Jones of
Gulfport, Harold Norwood of Hattiesburg, Sylvester Holloway of
Prentiss,  and Bobby Holloway of Texas; sisters, Shirley Price of
Hurley, Rosie Hall of Markham, Illinois, Minnie Norwood, Mary McInnis
and Clara Linzy all of Prentiss; and Nettie Collins of Ocean Springs;
19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
