Funeral services were held July 27, 2019, at South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church for Mr. Edgar B. Oatis, 60, who died July 23, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.

Evangelist Vanessa Oatis officiated with burial following in the Oatis Cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Edgar B. Oatis was born to the late Breland and Martha Taylor Oatis and was raised by his Aunt Willie Mae Oatis.  He joined South Pleasant Hill Church at the age of eight.

He was married to Sherri A. Bridges and to this union, two sons were born, Edric and Cedric Oatis.

He was employed by the Town of Prentiss for 18 years and later with the county as a foreman for 14 years.

He later married Vanessa Oatis and was affiliated with Community Empowerment Church of God in Christ.

He was preceded in death by: his aunt, Willie M. Oatis; siblings, Mary Caffee and James Oatis.

He is survived by: wife, Vanessa Oatis; two sons, Edric Oatis of Prentiss and Cedric (Catriska) Oatis of Silver Creek; two sisters, Clara Oatis of Prentiss and Helen (Robert) brown of Moss Point; three brothers, David L. Oatis and I. J. (Tressa) Oatis of Prentiss and Roger (Robin) Oatis of Gulfport; two granddaughters, Alexandria and Layla Oatis; his aunt, Doris Taylor; and many other relatives and friends.
