Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at St. Jame M. B. Church in Oakvale, for Mr. John Calvin McClendon, 63, who died Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.  Rev. Smith officiated with interment following in the New Zion M. B. Church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. John C. McClendon was born to the late Ethel Jean and Johnny Donaldson.  He joined St. James M. B. Church and loved music and playing his guitar and keyboard.

He is survived by two children, Synetra McClendon and Melissa Conley; five grandchildren; all of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Jerel McClendon of California and Charles (Lezzuett) Ross of Monticello; one goddaughter, Torsha Taylor; three aunts, seven god sisters and many other relatives and friends.
