Shootings leave one dead, one injured

Two separate shootings on Sept. 19, left one person dead and another injured.

Christopher Holloway of Prentiss, was found dead in the early morning hours at his residence on Mt. Carmel Road.

According to authorities, two acquaintences of Holloway drove up to his house and found him dead on the front porch.

Authorities have confirmed Holloway was shot twice, once in the head and once in the chest, and had been dead for approximately 12 hours.

An autopsy was performed on Holloway by the crime lab in Jackson and an investigation is ongoing.

Holloway was JDC Sheriff Ron Strickland’s brother-in-law.

In a second incident later that morning, Tony Magee was shot on Washington Avenue in Bassfield.

A witness to the shooting named a suspect and there has been a warrant for arrest issued for Triston Alford.

Magee underwent surgery and will make a full recovery.
