The Prentiss Board of Aldermen has made several changes to the town’s water policies.
Effective Oct. 1, Town of Prentiss water deposits for renters will increase to $200 from the current $125.
Deposits will need a photo I.D. along with a renter/lease agreement.
Water accounts must be put in the individual’s name that is on the renter/lease agreement and the photo I.D. must match that person.
Also effective Oct. 1, if an extension is needed on your water bill, you must come to City Hall located at 911 Third St., and pay a $25 extension fee on/or before the 15th of the month.
This extension is only good for l0 days. After l0 days, your water will be disconnected and a $50 reconnect fee will be added to the bill.
The full amount of the bill plus the $50 will need to be paid before water is reconnected.
Effective Jan. 1:
The Town of Prentiss water department is implementing a new policy that will not allow water accounts to go over 30 days past due.
The water bill is due on or by the 15th of each month.
Cut-off will now be the 20th of the same month the water bill is due.
The $50 reconnect fee will be added to all water bills not paid by the 20th of the month.
If your account is disconnected due to non-payment, the full amount of the bill plus the $50 will need to be paid before water can be reconnected.
Customers who now have a 30 day past due balance will have until Jan. 1, to bring their account current.
All bills with a balance on Jan. 20, will be disconnected and the $50 reconnect fee will be added.
The account must be paid in full along with the $50 reconnect fee before water can be reconnected.
