The burn ban issued by the Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors and the Town of Prentiss is still in effect for the county until Oct.28.

“We have been consulting with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, emergency management, and watching the drought monitor report for two weeks now,” said JDC board president Corky Holliman.

“We want everyone to know that just because it has rained, doesn’t mean the ban has been lifted,” said Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas.
