At the October Jefferson Davis County school board meeting, it was announced that Jefferson Davis County is now an ACT Work Ready Community.
“ACT Work Ready Community (WRC) status basically provides our county, as well as employers, with data on our workforce potential,” said Career Center Principal John Daley.
A major part of becoming an ACT WRC is based on a percentage of the county population gaining National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) by scoring Bronze level or above on the ACT WorkKeys assessment.
Employers can use NCRC data to determine the quantity and quality of an areas workforce.
By becoming an ACT WRC, Jefferson Davis County is taking the first steps in efforts to grow the workforce and attract employers to the county.
“Already at 93% of our goals, once we reach 100%, we will be able to use the ACT WRC logo to help promote our county.”
“At that point, we will then begin efforts to maintain our status.”
Employers in Jefferson Davis County that recognize and recommend the ACT NCRC are Farm Depot, Wise Buys, Richard Hathorn Electric, BV Farms, Daley Construction, HMP Managment Corp., Jefferson Davis Community Hospital, Jefferson Davis County School Distrcit, Mike Rozier Construction Co. Inc., Pearl River Valley Opportunity, Inc and West Quality Food Service, Inc.
