Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at Sweetwater C.M.E. Church in Bassfield,  for Mrs. Sandra (Pandy) Sims Powell Burton, 59, who died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019 at her residence. Rev. Jason McLeod officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sandra Burton was born to the late Jimmy (Arvnell) and Geanette Harper Sims. She joined Morning Star Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Shorts Chapel C. M. E. Church where she remained until her death. She attended Carver Elementary and graduated from Prentiss High School in 1977. She later attended Prentiss Institute and worked at Magnetek in Magee and KLH.

She was married to the late Larry Powell and later married the late Cleveland Burton. She was preceded in death by Belton Sims and Lawrence Sims

Mrs. Burton was survived by two sons, Marcus Ball and Terrell (Irie) Powell both of Hampton, Virginia; three sisters, Janice (Willie) Graves of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Shelia Sims of Hattiesburg and Edna Hall of Bassfield; two brothers, Darrell (Michelle) Sims and Edward Bridges both of Bassfield; six grandchildren; seven aunts, special friends, Al’Meka Arnold, Kelvin Mason, Mark Harper and Juanita McCoy and many

other relatives and friends.
