Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at North Silver Creek M. B. Church in New Hebron for Mother Rosie Powell, 77, who died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Covington County Hospital in Collins. Minister Marquis Powell officiated with interment following in Powell Ministry Church of God in Christ Cemetery in New Hebron. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mother Rosie Powell was born to the late Aaron and Alfredia Tatum in Montrose. After living in Chicago, Illinois for several years, she moved back to Mississippi and joined North Silver Creek M. B. Church. She later met and married Minister James Powell, whom she supported as he began his ministry and instrumental in the building of Powell Ministry Church of God in Christ. She became the First Lady of Powell Ministry and served as prayer partner and mentor.

She was preceded in death by son, Reginald Weathersby, brother, A. G. Tatum.

She is survived by husband, Pastor James B. Powell; son, Adrian Weathersby both of New Hebron; additional children, Andri (Brenda) Weathersby of Hattiesburg; James (Valarie) Powell of Spuchead, Maine, Marq (Doris) Powell of Jackson; Barbara (Grace) Daggins, Brookhaven; Terrance (Deloris) Blackwell of Gulfport; Katina and Cindy Blackwell both of Magee and many other relatives and friends.
