Funeral services for Elder Freddy Mills Sr. were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the Faithway Baptist Church. Elder Mills, age 70, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Marion General Hospital. Elder Dewitt Baines, Elder Brent Robbins and Elder David Moree officiated. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christian James Giveans, Walker Mills, Dennis Robbins, Ronnie Williamson, Jason Matheny, Trent Williamson, Clay Williamson and Richard Sullivan.

Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Freddy Mills Sr. was born on Dec. 19, 1949, in Laurel, to Lawrence Ray Mills and Edith Mae Holifield Mills. Elder Mills attended PRCC. He owned Mills Body Shop and was a faithful preacher since 1985. His church affiliations include, Faithway Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist in Kosciusko, French Road Baptist in Indianola, Southgate Baptist in Monticello, Grace Baptist in Columbia and Cooley Springs Baptist in Mt. Olive.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Elder Mills Sr. is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma Moree Mills of Bassfield; two sons, Freddy L. Mills Jr. (Angele) of Ocean Springs and Bro. John Mills (Michelle) of Lucedale; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation was Friday May 15, 2020, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Faithway Baptist Church.

A second visitation was held on Saturday, May 16, 2020, from 10 a.m.  until service time at Faithway Baptist Church.
