Funeral services were held Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Gregory Olensa Hampton, 47, who died Monday, June 24, 2020 in Marion County.  Rev. Rickie Buckley officiated with interment following in the New Jerusalem Church Cemetery in Oakvale.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gregory Hampton was born to Mr. Edward and Mrs. Rosa Hampton in Monticello, Mississippi.  He was known as Greg; he attended school in the Lawrence County School District.  He participated in Special Olympics as a teenager and won a gold medal for skiing.

He was a member of New Birth Fellowship Church in Columbia, Mississippi where he helped maintain the lawn.

He is survived by: mother and father, Rosa Hampton of Oakvale and Edward Hampton of Jayess; daughter, Fantasia Hampton of Jackson; three sisters, Rose Hybl of Chicago, Illinois, Sherri Pittman of Oakvale, MS and Vergenella Foster of Birmingham, Alabama; special friend, Debra Johnson of Columbia and many other relatives and friends.
