Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Oak Ridge M. B. Church in New Hebron,  for Mr. Tomas (Tommie) Walker, 68, who died Monday, June 22, 2020, at his residence.  Rev. Moses Johnson officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tomas Walker was born in Simpson County to M. L. and Rosie Walker; he joined Oak Ridge M. B. Church at an early age where he was active in the choir and Boy Shepherd League.

Later he united with Union Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board until death.

He attended New Hymn School and Prentiss Institute where he played football and basketball.

He loved fishing, fixing things and just being a handyman.

He is survived by two daughters, Gwen and Tarmara Walker; one son, Tommie Walker Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, Sammie Walker, Melvin Walker and D’Otis Walker; two sisters, Willine McDuffey and Alice Young; many other relatives and friends.
