William “Big Shot” Stephens

Graveside services for Mr. William “Big Shot” Stephens were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at the Society Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens, age 66, passed away from this life on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at Ochsner Medical Center in Metairie, Louisiana.  Rev. Mark McArthur and Rev. Lynn Stephens officiated.

Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Kyle Stephens, Eric Stephens, Jarrett Stephens, Dr. Darren Higgs, Brian Dyess and Dr. Jacob Cook.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Terry Hamilton and John Wayne Tolar.

William “Big Shot” Stephens was born on Jan. 31, 1954, in Columbia to Shelby Lee Stephens and Vonc Dyess Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a Senior Account Manager and Staff Development Director with Special Education Programs of the Southeast.  He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Mr. Stephens is survived by two brothers, Rev. Lynn Stephens (Mary) of Fleetwood, North Carolina and Glynn Stephens (Cheryl) of Bosier City, Louisiana; four nephews, Kyle Stephens, Eric Stephens, Jarrett Stephens and Darren Higgs; two nieces, Michelle Taylor (Ryan) and Natasha Poe (Brandon); eight great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Visitation was Friday, Aug. 14, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Society Hill Baptist Church.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
