The Prentiss Fire Department is hosting a benefit for fireman Chuck Pruitt who is battling cancer.

Pruitt has been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, which is a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile duct.

The event will be held at the Prentiss Fire Department on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., with an auction beginning at 5 p.m.

There will be a raffle for a Thompson Center Compass 270 rifle which can be viewed at the Prentiss Pawn Shop.

The tickets are $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20.  There will also be split-the-pot tickets on sale for $10 per ticket.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and chicken plates for $10 a plate.

“Please purchase tickets and donate items for the auction as 100% of the proceeds will go to offset expenses Chuck and Deanie will have,” said Prentiss Fire Chief Wayne Bass.

“Please pray for Chuck and his family. Not only his immediate family, but his fire and police family and the others he works with. We are all hurting some kind of bad.”

Fundraiser tickets for Pruitt, can be purchased at Prentiss Pawn Shop, A&K Creations (old Berry Chevrolet building), Prentiss City Hall and Prentiss Fire Dept.   

Also assisting with the event are Clem, 84 West, Granby, Bassfield and Good Hope Volunteer Fire Departments.

Pruitt worked for the Prentiss Fire Department for 12 years and was named the Prentiss Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year for 2018.

He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Granby Volunteer Fire Department, winning Granby Firefighter of the Year twice.

“He is an outstanding person and a dedicated firefighter,” said Chief Bass.  “You can’t help but like Chuck because he is a great guy. It is my honor to call him friend.”
