Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at Shorts Chapel Church Cemetery in Carson, for Mr. Roy Ray Mickell, 52, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Rev. Eddie Dixon officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roy Ray Mickell was born to Mr. Arthur Ray Mickell and Mrs. Annie Pearl Oliver in Bassfield. He joined Holly Springs CME Church at an early age and was a 1986 graduate of Bassfield High School. After high school, he moved to New York and later to Raleigh, North Carolina. He joined South Side Church of Christ in Durham, North Carolina. He was employed with Coca Cola until health began to fail.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Hosea and Elnora Mickell; maternal grandparents, Cornelious and Lula Mae Burton; brother, Nealis Mickell

He is survived by: two sons, Travis Mickell of North Fork, Virginia and Marcus Mikell of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Nicole (Aliedjawon) Peoples of Franklinton, North Carolina; father, Arthur R. Mickell of Bassfield; mother, Annie (Hosea) Oliver of Columbia; one sister, Melissa Graves of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Ray Dale (Veronica) Groundrock, Texas; one grandson, Kaila R. Mickell and many other relatives and friends.
