James Phillips

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. James Phillips, 72, who died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at his residence.
Rev. Earvin Tate officiated with interment following in Point Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. James Phillips was born to the late Robert and Lonnie Mae Phillips. He joined Rock Hiil Holiness Church.
He graduated from J. E. Johnson High School in Prentiss in 1968.
He later moved to Pasadena, California, and was employed as a construction engineer.
Mr. Phillips relocated to Chicago, Illinois where he met and married Geraldine Coffer in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Phillips Jr., R. C. Phillips, E. J. Phillips and Eddie Phillips; sisters, Annie Lois Byrd, Mae Reather Phillips and Margie Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Phillips; children, Masaha Phillips, Jasmine Phillips, Earvin (Zeneta) and Esstavayon (Monique); eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings,, Emma (James) Kitchen of Mt. Olive; Eloise Wallace of Monrovia, California; Lonnie (Joe) Payne of Detroit, Michigan; and Ruby (Willie) Wright of Bellwood, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
