Vera Reese Watson

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Vera Reese Watson, 90, who died Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, in Elyria, Ohio. Rev. Eddie Dixon officiated with interment following in Reese Cemeter in Bassfield.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vera Watson was born in Bassfield, to the late Daisy Reese. She joined Holly Springs CME Church at an early age. Mrs. Watson received her educational training at Harper Elementary School, Prentiss Institute and Mississippi Industrial College. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee and united with Oak Grove Baptist Church and worked at E. H. Crump Hospital until her retirement. She moved back home to Bassfield and reunited with Holly Springs CME Church. In 2016, she moved to Ohio and remained until her death.
Mrs. Watson married the late Eddie Harris and to this union two children were born, Linnette and Edmond.
She enjoyed watching sports, making arts and crafts, gardening and spending time with her pet, Gigi.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by son, Edmond Harris and sister, Wilhemenia Kendrick.
She is survived by one daughter, Linnette Farris; two granddaughters, Lawana (Ammar) Hall and Oliviyah Farris; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Purnell; four great-grandchildren; niece, Vera (Cedric) Kendrick; great-niece, Katilyn Moore; cousin, Dessie Price and many other relatives and friends.
