Anna R. M. Fortenberry

Funeral Services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Moss Fortenberry were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Society Hill Baptist Church, with visitation at the church from 1-2 p.m. before the service.  Anna Ruth, age 89, passed away from this life on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, in Prentiss.  Rev. Tommy Broom officiated.  Internment followed at Society Hill Cemetery. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss was in charge of arrangements.

Anna was born on Feb. 11, 1931, in Beaumont, Texas. She attended Lamar College in Beaumont and the Baptist Hospital School of X-Ray and Technology.  She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority from 1961-1964 in Beaumont, and in the Republic of Singapore from 1976-1980.  Anna enjoyed working in the medical field at several hospitals and doctor’s offices during her life time, the last being Fortenberry Medical Association in Prentiss.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ralph Morgan Fortenberry of Oak Vale;  her father and mother, Clifton Moss and Viva Arlena Dean Moss and her step-father, Frank J. Blount, also of Oak Vale.

She is survived by her son, James Clifton Holland and his wife, Lorinda Kerr Holland of Corinth, Texas and her daughter, Judy Ellen Holland Lepar of Oak Vale; three grandchildren, Joseph James Holland and wife Leah, Richard Austin Lepar and wife Chelsea, and Brian Taylor Lepar; four great-grandchildren,  Julianna Holland, Avery Alexus Ruiz, Emma Marianna Lepar and Julia Catherine Lepar; special friends Berwick Ostheimer, Rosa Hampton and her Amedisys Home Health Team as well as many other relatives and friends.  Also preceded by one stepdaughter, Teresa L. Fortenberry and also survived by three stepchildren, Cheryl Diane Fortenberry, Rance M. Fortenberry and Steven R. Fortenberry.

Anna was a lively, vivacious and caring woman who graced the lives of so many around her and knew her way around a kitchen.  She especially loved nature, birds, butterflies, flowers, gardening, needlecrafts, and she was an accomplished artist as well. She loved God and all His creations, her family, her precious grandchildren and her family of cousins who seemed like brothers and sisters to her.

Pallbearers were Joseph Holland, Richard Lepar, Berwick Ostheimer Sr., Berwick Ostheimer Jr., Frank Vice Sr. and Frank Vice Jr.

Also being remembered and honored was Dr. Ralph Morgan Fortenberry, beloved husband to Anna, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Dr. Fortenberry passed on Nov. 20, 2020, and was buried at Society Hill Cemetery.  Due to pandemic restrictions, we were not able to hold a funeral service at the time. It is now time that they are both together again.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
