A retirement reception was held for Rosetta Ball recently at the courtyard of the County Building in Prentiss.

Ball retired from the Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office after 23 years of employment with the county.

Ball started work on Sept. 1, 1998, when Kathryn “Molly” Barnes was the tax assessor. She also worked under the administration of Sue Shivers Worthy.

“It has been a joy working with all the people of the county,” said Ball. “I have seen so many faces. They have all told me stories of every kind and I will take them home with me. I worked with the most wonderful people. We have been through some journeys together.”

Ball plans to travel and work on projects at home with her free time.

Jefferson Davis County Board President Bobby Rushing presented Ball with a resolution on behalf of the board of supervisors honoring her service to the county.

She is married to Mark A. Ball and the two have seven children, 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several godchildren. She is a 1974 graduate of Bassfield High School and is a member Hollisday Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

“This woman has been in my life for over 35 years,” said JDC Tax Assessor Kelley Ross Brown. “She is a true woman of God, a true friend and sister. She has worked hard, had fun, made history and now it’s time to enjoy life. This is a bittersweet moment!”
