Following the Belton Sims trial at the Jefferson Davis Courthouse last month, the janitorial service discovered suspicious items in a garbage can in the witness restroom just off the courtroom.

Law enforcement officials were called and inspected the contents of the garbage bag. A package containing marijuana, spice, cigars, cell phone chargers, headphones, rolling papers, tobacco and cigarettes was found inside the garbage bag. Three cell phones wrapped in socks were discovered in the can underneath the garbage bag.

“Keep trying and we are going to keep finding it,” said Jefferson Davis County Undersheriff T. C. Cooley. “We are looking, and we are not backing off.”

“If it is here and we find it, and we find out who is putting it here, they will be charged,” said Jefferson Davis County Sheriff Ron Strickland.
