Hubert Wilford Burns

Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Wilford Burns were held 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, June 9, 2021, at Saulters Moore Chapel.  Father Chinnappa Raj Mark officiated. Interment followed at St. James Cemetery in Bassfield.  Mr. Burns, age 86, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at his loving brother’s home in Bassfield. His final blessings were administered by his pastor, Father Mark.

Mr. Burns was born June 19, 1934, in Bassfield.  He was the son of Patrick Augusta and Cordia Faler Burns. He lived out his 86 years with a passion for hunting, dancing, country music, travelling, growing a garden and spending time with his family.  Mr. Burns moved from his home in Bassfield to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 18.  In addition to raising a family of six children, he built a career at A&P Warehouse on Jefferson Highway in Metairie, Louisiana, where he retired.  At the age of 57 years of age, he returned to his beloved hometown of Bassfield, where he lived out the remainder of this life surrounded by family and friends.  Mr. Burns was a parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church in Bassfield.

Mr. Burns leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Francis Burns; three daughters, Gwendolyn Burns McMahon (Jim), Rosanna Burns Moore and Janice Burns Tramel (Anthony) and one son, Ashley Burns (Jamie).  He also leaves behind 11 Grandchildren; Angela Morrow McMillian, Shane Tramel, Kyra Bell Tyson, Shanna Adams Rao, Chad Morrow, Robby Clark, Jonathan Burns-Cruz, James McMahon, Devin Burns-Cruz, Anna Lee Burns-Cruz, Ashton Burns Sr.;  16 great grandchildren; Shauna Beckner Tramel, Jason Tyson, Jules Lucas, Samantha Brown, Ethan Clark, Evan Clark, Ephram Clark, Sarah Rao, Stephen Rao, Savannah Morrow, Alyssa Morrow, Camron Cruz, Shay Tramel, Tatum Tramel, Ashton Burns Jr. and Aubrey Burns.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his siblings Charles Burns, Robert Burns, James Burns, Sally Burns, Aileen Burns Burkett, and his daughters Marilyn Burns Clark and Judith Burns Howard. He was also preceded in death by his life partner of over 25 years, Francible Wood.

Visitation was Wednesday morning, June 9, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. until at service time at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
