“Mayor Dumas was the first person to greet me when I arrived, and I commend him for being involved. I loved Prentiss. The people were so nice and generous, and I hope to be back soon. I look forward to building a relationship with the Mayor and with Prentiss.”

Over 100 people attended the grand opening and toured the facility.  Food, drinks and door prizes were given away to those in attendance.

“We cannot thank the people of Prentiss enough for the support shown today at our grand opening,” said Melanie Sorenson. “We are truly blessed to be a part of this community.”

The business is located in the former KLH building on John Street Extension and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

LRE released a new oil line at the grand opening and plan to add additional products soon.

“We just finished the prototypes for CBD vape cartridges and juice,” said Eric Sorenson. Our goal is to have those available by July 5.”

Also on sale at the dispensary are balms, gummies, pre-packaged hemp flower and pre-rolls, tinctures (drops), bath dust and dog treats.

Leaf River Extraction is the first and only hemp production, processing and CBD extraction company in Mississippi.

The company specializes in a Supercritical CO2 technology to extract CBD and other valuable cannabinoids from the hemp plant.

Leaf River Extraction gives the Mississippi farmer a one-stop solution to launch the new crop, process hemp biomass to extraction, and a sales solution to move their hemp oil and hemp commodities via distribution channels.

“We hope everyone will come visit our facility in Jefferson Davis County,” said Sorenson. “We offer education about the hemp plant and offer a full line of indoor gardening supplies.”

LRE is currently accepting applications for trimmers and packagers. For those interested in employment, visit the dispensary to pick up an application or call 601-900-3790.
