Authorities are searching for a missing Bassfield man. Robert Earl Bass, 76, of 26 Bass Road, was reported missing to the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office just before 7p.m. Monday night.

According to law enforcement officers at the scene, Bass was staying at a friend’s home at 2034 South Williamsburg Road Sunday night. Around 2 a.m. Monday morning, he woke up to use the bathroom, went outside, and never came back in. The friend began searching a short time later. 

Bass is described as a 6’5” black male with a slender build and gray hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a short sleeve blue shirt. He is reported to have dementia and diabetes. 

MEMA was on the scene with drones to assist in the search. Dogs will not be beneficial due to the time lapse and rainfall that has occurred in the area.
