Local law enforcement officers have coordinated a more extensive search this afternoon for missing Prentiss woman Shirley Jones.
Local officers, firemen, family and friends began the search at noon Friday from Tyrone Drive to the 184 Bypass and the surrounding area.
“We would like to rule out the area surrounding Ms. Jones residence as the investigation progresses,” said Prentiss Police Department Detective Richard Browning. “We appreciate the public’s assistance in the search.”
Jones, 73, was last seen July 13 at approximately 3 p.m. near Her residence on Tyrone Drive in Prentiss.
She is described as a black female, five feet and four inches tall, weighing 134 pounds, with grey hair and brown eyes.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for Jones Wednesday night.
Family members say Jones suffers from a medical condition that may impair her judgment.
