Johnny Kerley

Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Kerley were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at St. Peters Catholic Hall. Mr. Kerley, age 73, passed away from this life on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at his residence in Bassfield.  Father Chinnappa Raj Mark and Father Tommy Conway officiated. Interment followed in St. James Cemetery.

Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were, Ted Applewhite, Korky Kerley, Kevin Kerley, Bobby Hurst, Brian Daley and Ronnie Shivers.

Johnny Kerley was born on Feb. 19, 1948, in Mississippi to John Lavern “Jack” Kerley and Maxie Barnett Kerley. Mr. Kerley was an outside lumber salesman for Lowes in Hattiesburg for 25 years. He was a Board Member of Rails to Trails, was on the Board of Aldermen for four terms and the owner of 4-K Stables. Mr. Kerley was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy and one sister, Jackie Shivers.

Mr. Kerley is survived by two sons, Jonathan Kerley (Angela) of Hattiesburg and Jason Kerley (Jennifer) of Bassfield; two grandchildren, Jace and Cooper Kerley and one brother, Danny Kerley (Belinda) of Meridian.

Visitation was Monday, July 26, 2021 from 5:30 until 9 p.m. at St. Peters Catholic Hall.
