Today MSDH is reporting 2,939 more cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi, 81 deaths, and 176 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities. State #covid19 totals: 439,661 cases, 8,490 deaths, and 1,164,995 persons fully vaccinated.

Thirty-one deaths occurred between Aug. 26-31 including one in Jefferson Davis County. As of Aug. 31, Jefferson Davis County has had 1544 cases, 40 deaths, nine long term facility cases and one long term facility death. This is an increase of 61 cases and three deaths from the week before. The largest rises in cases in the county continue to be in ages 5-17 and 25-39.

In an ongoing effort to help COVID-19 patients on the road to recovery, Forrest Health is offering monoclonal antibody infusions to eligible COVID-positive patients at its five regional hospitals, including Jefferson Davis Community Hospital. “The antibodies help prevent people from getting sick enough to require a stay in the hospital,” said JDCH Administrator Alania Cedillo. “We are recommending that anyone who becomes COVID positive sign up for the monoclonal antibody treatment as early as possible.”

Patients with a COVID-19 positive result or their provider can call 601-288-4444 to schedule an appointment at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital. Scheduling lines are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Jefferson Davis Rural Health Clinic is offering COVID-19 vaccines to persons age 18 and up during all clinic open hours: Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

COVID-19 vaccines will also be available for persons age 12-17 by appointment only on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Friday mornings, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Please call 601-792-2200 to schedule an appointment.
