The Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Prentiss met in a regular meeting on Sept. 21, at Ronald W. Jones Memorial Safety Complex in Prentiss. Mayor Charley Dumas presided over the meeting. Aldermen in attendance were Willie Davis and Moochie Speights. Rudy McNease, Patty King and Randy Stamps were in attendance via telephone phone. Alderman Davis led in prayer and the agenda was adopted before departmental reports were given.

Public Works report:

• 6,688,000 gallons of water were pumped; 4,567,840 gallons of water were sold for a 32% loss.
• Repaired chlorinator at the lagoon.
• Assisted Bassfield with sewer line location.
• Replaced four meters.
• Removed low cable lines on Amanda Street and Leaf Avenue.
• Put cold mix in potholes on 5^th and 6^th
• Replaced cut-off valve at Jeffersonian.
• Read water meters, picked up garbage, cut and trimmed grass.
• Replaced blades on bushhog.
• Repaired air conditioner on Kubota tractor.

Prentiss Fire Department report:

• Received $2500 grant from CenterPoint Energy. Funds will go to purchase four new MSWIN radios.
• The Department was awarded a $47,000 AFG grant. It will be used to purchase a new battery operated set of Jaws of Life and certify all volunteer firefighters.
• The department responded to seven emergency calls: one grass fire, one medical assist, three Jaws of Life calls, one motor vehicle accident fire with fatality and one house fire. The
• Fire inspections were made at Five County Headstart, Jefferson Davis Community Hospital and ECF and Five County Senior Citizens Building.
• The Department participated in the 911 memorial walk.
• Hunter McPhail was approved to work part-time for the department.

Prentiss Police Department report:

• Responded to three motor vehicle accidents, 13 alarms, 308 escorts, 30 citations, 41 traffic stops, 115 complaints, three animal calls and one inmate call.
• Seven active investigations
• Made six misdemeanor arrests and two felony arrests.
• Murder conviction handed down to Desmond Fortenberry, convicted of killing Carlos Taylor in 2019.
• David Berry was approved to work full-time with the police department.
