Lawrence County High School lockdown lifted

Lawrence County High School is releasing bus riders and other students gradually as a lockdown has been lifted just after 3 p.m.

The schools were under lockdown due to a social media threat posted under the user name lawrencecowhiteboys_. that read, “ME AND THE GUYS ARE ON A ROLE AND IS ON OUR WAY ALL LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGHSCHOOL STAFFS, TEACHERS WHATEVER ARE NEXT TO BE KILLED, YALL DONT WANNA LET US WEAR ANYTHIN SO WHY NOT WERE TIRED AT EXACTLY 1:35”

“Due to a social media threat involving Lawrence County High School, all Lawrence County School District School sites have been placed on lockdown at this time,” a Facebook post from the school district said at 11:40 a.m.

“Law enforcement has been notified of the threat, is investigating, and is currently present at LCHS. The safety of district staff and students is our highest priority. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.”

Sheriff Ryan Everett said the incident “is under investigation at this time.”

No one was injured during the lockdown, but an ambulance was called to attend to a student suffering an anxiety attack.
