Homegoing Services for Mrs. Johnnie Bell Boyd were held at 11 a.m., Thursday morning, Feb. 10, 2022, at Monticello United Pentecostal Church in Monticello.  Interment followed in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Jayess.  Rev. Glynn Hilton, Rev. Timothy Mains and Rev. Chris Keen officiated.

Mrs. Johnnie Bell Boyd, 94, went on to her heavenly reward late Friday night, Feb. 4, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on Nov. 15, 1927, in Lawrence County to Johny “Bud” and Willie Bell Lambert Dunaway.  Mrs. Boyd was married to the late Tommie Jackson Boyd and resided in Monticello until his death in 1961. She later moved to Jayess with her children and was employed at the Kellwood Clothing Factory and then worked at the Topeka-Tilton School cafeteria until retirement.  Mrs. Boyd was of the Pentecostal faith and a charter member of the Monticello United Pentecostal Church.  What she cherished most was to spend time with her family and to attend her church to enjoy the fellowship of her church family.  She also loved to share her faith whenever the opportunity arose.  She will be greatly missed, but her prayers and example of her Christianity will be remembered for years to come.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents, Johny and Willie Bell Dunaway; her husband, Tommy Jackson Boyd; a son, Gerald Boyd; a daughter, Doris Carney; her grandson, Tony Watson; a daughter-in-law, Diane Boyd and her siblings, J.Y. Dunaway, Grady Dunaway and J.D. Dunaway.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her sons, Ray (Marilyn) Boyd, Willie (Karen) Boyd, W.C. Boyd; her daughters, Lucille (Alan) Davis, Peggy (Timothy) Mains, Pat (Charlie) Matthews; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Boyd, a son-in-law, Joey Carney; and her brother, Richmond Dunaway.  Mrs. Boyd also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, Feb. 9, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and also Thursday morning, Feb. 10, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. at the Monticello United Pentecostal Church.

Serving as pallbearers were Shane Davis, Morgan Sistrunk, Joshua Carney, Holland Boyd, Ryan Mains and Grant Trotter.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Home Sweet Home care givers and Dr. Brantley Pace and staff of the Lawrence County Hospital for the special care given to Mrs. Boyd.

Betty Robbins Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Robbins were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Society Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed in the Society Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Robbins, age 75, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Saturday morning, July 13, 2024, at the Forrest General Hospital. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The Robbins family received friends one hour before the funeral service, beginning at noon, Tuesday, at Society Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers included Kelley LeNormand, Cymantha Shellenberger, Mason Robbins, Jenna Robbins, Frank Vice and Frank Vice Jr. Betty Robbins was born on June 6, 1949, in Magee, Mississippi to Walter R. and Margaret Jones Bishop. Mrs. Robbins was a long-time resident of Carson. She and her husband would go on to raise a happy family of six children that would multiply over the years with the addition of in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robbins loved the country life and will be remembered for not only growing a yard full of beautiful flowers, but also a vegetable garden of which she fed her family. An animal lover, she also had dogs, chickens and hogs over the years. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter R. and Margaret Bishop, her husband, Kenneth Terrell Robbins Sr; her daughter, Pamela Robbins; sisters, Patsy Holden, Margaret  Coble, Linda Hester and her brother, Richard Bishop. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Billie Jo Williamson of Prentiss; sons, Kenny Robbins Jr. (Kathy) of Carson, Mikell Robbins (Kelley) of Palestine, Texas, John Robbins (Nicole) of Sumrall, Daniel Robbins, (Tanya) of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Ray Bishop (Nancy) of Magee and her sister, Myrtis Craig (Ed) of Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Robbins also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
