Agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Drug Enforcement Agency and deputies from the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brandon Mortez Graves at his residence in Jefferson Davis County on March 14.  Graves was arrested and charged with one count of the sale of a schedule 1 controlled substance-heroin and one count of the sale of a schedule 2 controlled substance-methamphetamine.

This arrest was part of a six-month long investigation into drug sales in the area of Jefferson Davis County High School. Graves’ residence, which is in proximity of the Jefferson Davis County High School on Highway 42, served as a drug distribution and consumption hub.

Graves was brought before Jefferson Davis County Justice Court Judge Calvin Graves March 15, who set his bond at $60,000. He currently remains in the Jefferson Davis County jail. Additional charges are anticipated pending further investigation.

“We are thankful to the MBN and DEA for their assistance in this matter and are glad he has been put to a stop,” said Jefferson Davis County Sheriff Ron Strickland. “Of course, the safety of all of our residents is of utmost importance, but it is crucial that the students being educated in Jefferson Davis County can do so without fear in their surroundings.”
