All schools and offices in the Jefferson Davis County School District and Prentiss Christian School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5, 2022, due to expected inclement weather including high winds and the possibility for tornadoes. This will not be a virtual day due to expected power outages. Jefferson Davis County Headstart will also be closed.
JDC remains in the enhanced risk with the primary threat being winds up to 80 mph and possible tornadoes. A strong storm system will bring widespread thunderstorms with the potential to produce heavy rainfall of two to three inches in a short period of time. Localized flash flooding will be possible. A greater threat for flash flooding could evolve in some locations as the event gets underway.
According to the latest graphics the most likely timeframe for the squall line to move into Jefferson Davis County is 6:00 a.m. Severe weather could last until noon or later.
