Two tornadoes touched down in JDC Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Jackson has confirmed two tornadoes touched down in Jefferson Davis County April 5.

The first tornado touched down at 7:06 a.m. and lasted approximately four minutes. Rotation was reported near Golden Pine Road then crossed Odom Bass Road, Mt. Zion Road, Hartzog Magee Road and Jackson Bridges Road before it dissipated. The EF-1 tornado had peak winds of 105 miles per hour, traveled 3.1 miles and was 100 yards wide.

The second tornado began in north Jefferson Davis County in the Clem/Mt. Carmel area at 7:10 a.m. before crossing into Covington County. This tornado tracked for 13.7 miles with peak winds at 120 miles per hour. It was an EF-2 tornado and was 400 yards wide. No injuries were reported with either tornado.
