Former JDC District 3 Supervisor John Thompson threw the first pitch to begin a new era of Jefferson Davis County Jaguar softball. Due to the devastating tornadoes that took place on Easter Day 2020 and the precautions that had to be taken because of COVID, the youth of our county and surrounding areas had not been able to play on the fields at the John Thompson Complex in Bassfield. The fields have been repaired and are now open for play. This is the first time the girls’ softball has been able to play on a home field since the inception of Jefferson Davis County High School. In appreciation to former supervisor John Thompson, he was asked to pitch the first ball on the opening day April 2 against Meridian. “Our county is extremely appreciative for his diligence and hard work to have the ballpark built under his supervision,” said youth baseball coordinator Tiffany Johnson.
