Teachers workshop offered for JDC educators

The “Conservation in the Classroom” Teachers Workshop is being offered for educators of K-12 grades in Jefferson Davis and Marion County. The workshop, scheduled for July 11-14 and provides participants with the knowledge and resources to incorporate environmental education into the classroom through all subject areas.  During the three and a half days, hands-on activities and field trips are utilized to teach about soil, water, wildlife, recycling, agriculture, urban ecology and forestry.  Experts from local, state and federal agencies will conduct presentations and provide resource materials.

The workshop will be held at The Community Room in Columbia.  Participants earn 3.2 Continuing Education Units.  There is a refundable $25.00 deposit to reserve your spot for the workshop.  The workshop is free and includes all course materials, meals, and CEUs.  15 teachers from Jefferson Davis County and Marion County will each have 15 teachers selected for this workshop.
