Funeral services were held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at New Zion Baptist Church, Oakvale, Mississippi for Mr. Johnny McClendon, 60, who died on Sunday, April 15, 2022 at his residence. Rev. Korey Langston, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McClendon was born to the late Henry McClellan and Vera McClendon in Oakvale, Mississippi. He was the third child of five children. He attended school in Monrovia, California until 1975 and later moved to Oakvale, Mississippi and attended Prentiss High School.  He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

He married Miss Tondalayo Baker in 2012 and acquired three children. He worked for the Town of Prentiss until he moved to Houston, Texas where he worked at Rocket Parking and Rolling Rail until his health failed.

He is survived by: wife, Tondalayo McClendon; mothr, Vera (Charles) Blanchard; six sisters, Bonnie Peters of New Orleans, Ann (Tony) Nettles of Fontana, CA and Cathy McClellan of San Bernardino, CA; one brother, Ralph (Carrie) McClellan of Prentiss, MS; step-father, Charles Blanchard; three step-sisters, Bobbie Singleton and Ruby Blanchard of Jackson, MS; Brenda Blanchard of Prentiss, MS; three grandchildren; one brother, Russell Ross of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law, Argie F. Bourne; many other relatives and friends.
