Jefferson Davis County Schools will begin the new school year this Thursday at all five campuses, including the newly formed Jefferson Davis County Middle School.

The mask mandate continues for all campuses and protective face coverings will be required and must be worn at all times by students, teachers, staff and visitors beginning on the first day of school, Aug. 4.

“After seeing COVID 19 numbers rising again, the Board of Trustees acted on my recommendation to protect the children, faculty, staff by continuing the use of masks,” said JDC Superintendent Ike Haynes.

There have been changes to the JDCSD uniform policy. This year,  K-12 grade students throughout the district will wear polo style tops that are grey, royal blue, navy blue or white. Spirit shirts will also be allowed to be worn daily.

Black, khaki or navy bottoms should be worn with a belt, and shirts should be tucked in. All other colors are prohibited. Hoodies will be allowed as a privilege. If the student is caught with their hood on inside the building, consequences will be implemented.

The new JAG store will have its grand opening Sept. 6 at Jefferson Davis County High School in Bassfield. The store will be open daily 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Uniform items will be available for purchase in-store and online.
