Light up the Trace plans are underway

Plans are underway for the second annual Light Up The Trace event to be held Dec. 21, on the darkest night of the year.
The event is sponsored by the Jefferson Davis County Economic Development District in conjunction with the Town of Prentiss, Prentiss Institute, the Town of Bassfield and Sumrall Main Street.
“We are hoping that each location/station will have live music and a marketplace with food and other items during the event in addition to the luminaria lighting,” said JDC Econmic Development Director Gary Bass.
Luminarias will be sold for $10 at each of the locations. They can also be purchased at Alfa Insurnace in Prentiss, A. F. Carraway in Bassfield and Plum Trophy and Priority One Bank in Sumrall and online at www.lightupthetrace.com.
Each station will benefit from the money sold for that location. The money raised is to be used for safety and security on the Longleaf Trace.
