Together they traveled the world as part of the US Navy, were blessed with three sons, and later returned to Columbia, Mississippi to settle for the rest of their days. She was only parted from her sweetheart in 1999 when he passed away.

Miss Betty was the secretary at Jefferson Middle School in Columbia for over 20 years, where she touched the lives of the students for her entire career.

After retiring from this position she put her boundless energy into creating a family tree farm on the land where she was born.

Miss Betty loved God, gardening, traveling, making friends, and serving her family.  Her life adventures in retirement also included walking the Great Wall of China, visiting the rainforests of Costa Rica, and climbing Machu Picchu in Peru.

Her many dear friends and family will miss her humor, care, and advice.
