Glynn Dale “Lumberjack” Saulters was born on Aug. 17, 1939, in Bassfield to Leo Dale and Mynon Glynn Armstrong Saulters.  After graduating from Bassfield High School, Glynn Dale would go on to marry his sweetheart, Ellisine Stephens, in September of 1957.  Together, they would enjoy over 65 years of marriage, to which a daughter, son-in-law and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren would be added.  It was also during these golden years that a treasury of happy memories was made, and those memories will be forever held in the hearts of those that Glynn Dale loved.  His great-grandchildren recall that in addition to hunting and fishing, their Pop, as he was affectionately called, loved to watch True Crime, as he sat in his favorite chair in the corner.  They also recall small things that meant so much, such as that he brought them donuts in the morning; but the most important thing their Pop did was that he gave of his time to them and that he loved their “Mammy” very much.  Glynn Dale’s family takes comfort that, as his great granddaughter described, “he is in a safe place”.

Glynn Dale’s first job out of high school was in construction, but shortly thereafter, he discovered his passion for truck driving.  Many happy hours were spent as the “Lumberjack” (his CB Radio handle) pulled loads across America from coast to coast.   For many years, he worked as a truck driver for Willie Fortenberry Lumber Company.  In addition, he also owned his company, G.D. Saulters Trucking, until health considerations caused him to transition and work for the company his family describes as some of his most enjoyable years, Williamson Logging Company.  Glynn Dale attended the Prentiss Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Saulters was preceded in death by his sister, Rennette Bailey and his great-grandson, Karson Thomas Martin.

His memory will forever live on the hearts of those he leaves behind; they include his wife of over 65 years, Ellisine Stephens Saulters of Prentiss and his daughter, Sabrina Saulters Martin (Larry) of Prentiss.  The legacy of their Pop will also live on through his grandchildren, Simon Thomas Martin (Catherine), Carrie Leigh Spillman (Johnny), Justin Glynn Martin (Cameron); and also, his great grandchildren, Grayson Martin, Karlynn Martin, Hailey Stahl, Autumn Leffler, Lilah Leffler, Madileigh Spillman, Easton Spillman, Miller Grace Martin, John Lawson Martin and Luke Rivers Martin.
