Supervisors renew yearly liability insurance at monthly meeting

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the second meeting of the month Monday morning at the board room in Prentiss. The meeting opened with prayer by Anna Keys before the meeting was called to order and the minutes and agenda were approved
Joyce Strickland gave the yearly report for Five County Transportation.
April Williams and Tony Bridges made a request to the board for a lawn mower for the Jefferson Davis Dixie Youth Baseball at Price Field.
The board provides funding to Bassfield and Prentiss each year for the two ball leagues, therefore requests for league items are to be made to the towns.
Corey Dale presented the yearly report for the county liability insurance. The board approved to renew the insurance for another year.
The County Engineer Les Dungan, County Attorney Wes Daughdrill and Board Accountant Cathy Slocum gave their monthly report.
The agenda item, Approved Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, was continued.
Approving the Board nominating one private sector representative to the Southern MS Planning and Development District’s Board of Directors to serve until Dec. 31, with Board President signing nomination form was also continued.
In other board news, the board approved the following without opposition before it entered into executive session over a personnel matter and adjourned.
•Approved rescinding order of Board President signing County Fire Investigator Appointment Form and payment of $100.
•Approved Board President signing MS Landmark Permit for the courthouse – roof replacement project.
•Approved Board President signing Benchmark Construction Pay Application number nine for $335,685.16.
•Approved quote for replacement of air conditioning system at Department of Human Services Building on Leo Street.
•Approved advertising for cold mix for remaining of 2023.
•Approved advertising for dump truck with lease purchase for District 3.
•Approved request from JDC Youth Baseball in Bassfield for dugouts to be renovated and yearly recreation funds.
•Approved purchase of part on credit card for District 5.
•Approved sale of inventory to Town of Bassfield Asset #352, 2004 Chevrolet garbage truck.
•Approved retiring and offering for sale from Maintenance Department Asset #20 2002 Ford F-150 truck.
•Approved employees attending conventions and meetings.
•Approved payment to Magco for Sam Graham Rd project for $35,789.55.
•Approved payment of credit card invoice.
•Approved claims.
