Funeral services were held Thursday, April 6, 2023, at South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Prentiss, for Mr. Maurice Oatis, 72, who passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Rev. Robert Collins officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Maurice Oatis is the son of the late Lillian Warner and was a member of South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Maurice Oatis worked for Georgia Pacific where he retired after 35 years.

He is survived by: devoted wife, Shirley Oatis; sons, Richard Ross and Antione D. Oatis of Prentiss; Maurice D. Oatis (Sonya) of Prentiss; sisters, Linda Oatis, Prentiss; Junglian Shea Lockheart (Tim), Stone Mountain, Georgia; Lettrice Fellows (Terry), Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brothers, Jerry Lewis (Mildred), Newton; Wilbert Oatis (Jo Margaret), Prentiss; Harold Lewis (Emma), Prentiss; Michael Oatis (Shelia), Los Angeles, California; Silas K. Richmond (Gwen), Pearl; special Aunt, Edna Foxworth, St. Louis, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
