Funeral services were held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel in Prentiss,  for Miss Mary Lou Polk, 66, who passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. Rev. Thad Easter officiated with interment following in Progress COGIC Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Mary Lou Polk is the daughter of the late Richard Lee and Eliza Polk. She was a member of Progress Church of God in Christ. She was a homemaker who loved cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by a nephew raised as her own, Malcolm Polk; brothers, Richard Junior Polk, Paul (Carolyn) Polk, Thad Easter and Matthew Polk, all of Prentiss; Robert Lee (Earnestine) Polk, Bassfield; James C. (Hattie) Polk, Ellisville; sisters, Mary Jane Magee and Mary Ann Polk, Prentiss; Jasmine Middlebrook, Pearl and many other relatives and friends.
