Stringer sworn in as JDC District 2 Election Commissioner

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the first meeting of the month Monday morning at the board room in Prentiss.

After prayer by Jessie Holloway the agenda was approved.

Ann Stringer was officially appointed and sworn in as District 2 Election Commissioner at the beginning of the meeting.

Jefferson Davis County Election Commission Chairperson Linda Speights informed the board of the retirement of Ralph Hanegan as Election Commissioner for District 2 at a previous meeting. District 2 Supervisor Charles Reid appointed Ann Stringer to fill the position until a special election can be held in November 2024.

Vicki Dingh with Nick Floyd Insurance gave the board an overview of the county’s health insurance and answered any questions the board had.

Gennette Griffith who lives on Griffith Lane in District 4 addressed the board with concerns about the condition of the road her residence is on.

Board Attorney Wes Daughdrill and engineer Les Dungangave their reports.

•Approved payment for roof repair at Red House Voting Precinct

•Approve Board President signing Articles of Agreement with Professional Mass Appraisals for appraisal update and mapping maintenance for 2024-2027.

•Approved resolutions for Jimmy Smith and John Wayne Tolar.

•Approved MASIT Board of Trustees ballot.

•Approved quote for dump trailer – District 3.

•Approved quote for rim and tire repair – District 2.

•Approved quote for rim and tire repair – District 3.

•Approved advertising for dump truck – District 3.

•Approved advertising for cold mix for the remainder of calendar year 2023.

•Approved employee action form – District 5

•Approved spreading into the minutes employee action forms for Sheriff’s Dept.

•Approved employees attending meetings and conventions.

•Approve transfer of funds to Chancery (paymode).

•Approved use of county credit card for purchase of parts – District 3.

•Approve payment of invoices to Magco for Sam Graham Rd project – $345,596.30.

•Approved overage on purchase order: Purchase order 230359 for hot mix $20.16.

•Approved payment of invoice without a purchase order to Otis Elevator – $1,125.00 (jail).

•Approved 2023 – 2024 budget schedule.

•Approved claims.
