In the spirit of this year’s summer reading theme “All Together Now” a Little Free Library will soon be placed on the lawn at Prentiss City Hall.

Anyone may take a book, neighbors, friends and passersby. The books are always free. Book donations are welcome. Find other book-sharing boxes with Little Free Library world map at littlefreelibrary.org or with the Little Free Library mobile app.

A ribbon cutting will be held June 23 at 11 a.m. at 911 Third Street.

“Many thanks to Tameka Mitchell for her efforts in placing a Little Free Library in our community,” said Prentiss Mayor Charley Dumas.

The Little Free Library is proudly donated by Willie and Garnell Brown.

The “All Together Now,” Summer Reading Program is in week two at Prentiss Public Library and the Dr. Frank L. Leggett Library in Bassfield.

Both libraries have lots of new books that have arrived for the Summer Reading Program and are ready for new readers. Kids can pick up reading records at the circulation desk and there are plenty of reward bucks for shopping in the prize store. The prize store is fully stocked with toys and the top reader will win a 50” basketball hoop.

The program is held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesdays in Bassfield and on Thursdays in Prentiss.

Along with the Summer Reading Program, both libraries will have free events throughout the summer months.

“We hope you will drop by and join in the fun, with your kids, of course,” said Jefferson Davis County Library Supervisor Jackie Miller.
