Village Market Days will have its opening day on Saturday, July 1 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.  The Flea Market is scheduled to be open the first Saturday of every month.  The event is anticipated to bring vendors from all around the Pine Belt with Flea Market goods, prepared deserts, farmers market products, food trucks and other vendors.  Everything will be set up next to the Bassfield Public Library by the Ken Roberts Auction House.

“The Town of Bassfield is excited about the Village Market Days being held the first Saturday of every month and the economic impact it will have in our community,” said Bassfield Mayor Angie Ladner. “It also creates great fellowship and an opportunity for others to buy, sell and trade their products locally.” 

Currently for the first event, 17 vendors have already signed up to participate.  Flea Market vendors will offer a variety of antique, specialty and home goods, home baked goods, and more.  Food vendors that are scheduled to appear are Hog Heaven BBQ and Dab’s Chicken and Waffles, LackNothin’ Kettle Corn, and Cherron’s Baked Goods; other vendor food items include drinks of all types and fresh lemonade will be available.

“We are looking forward to this getting started, in hopes that it will get better every month and drive more traffic to our city. When we can support local, we should.”

Coordinators of the Market, Roger Dyess and Elaine Reed Powell are excited about the future of this event as the word spreads and more vendors and shoppers from all around will be attending the monthly event.  “Crowds are anticipated to be in the hundreds to begin, but based on other events in the Pine Belt like this, crowds in the thousands now attend many other events as this”, said Dyess.

“This is a good time to bring something positive to Bassfield and a good way to boost the economy from the shoppers attending.”

The event is free to the public to attend, just come prepared to shop and enjoy the many items that will be featured, a true family event, there is something for everyone.  Live music is to be added as soon as possible.
