JDC Economic Development District seeking representative for Miss Hospitality

In the heart of Mississippi, the Miss Hospitality Pageant is gearing up for its grand 75th-anniversary celebration in 2024.

This milestone marks three-quarters of a century of empowering young women to become ambassadors for their communities, showcasing their intelligence, grace, and commitment to promoting the state’s rich culture and economic development.

As the pageant searches for its next representative, aspiring young women from Jeff Davis County are encouraged to step forward and seize this unique opportunity to shine on the statewide stage.

To qualify for the Miss Hospitality Pageant, contestants must meet specific criteria set forth by the organizers.

General requirements include being a Mississippi resident, representing their hometown or county (not the city of college attendance), being a high school graduate planning to attend college, and falling within the age range of 18 to 24 by the start of the judging process.

Additionally, contestants must be in good health, have never been married or have children, and maintain a minimum 2.5 scholastic average.

Furthermore, aspiring contestants should possess qualities such as intelligence, articulateness, photogenic appeal, a friendly and natural spirit, and a general knowledge of state tourist attractions, history, and economic development.

Accomplishments in public speaking and communication are emphasized, though special talents are not mandatory.

Local contestants selected to represent their communities will undergo a contestant workshop on May 18, in Hattiesburg. Official headshots will be taken during this event, setting the stage for the exciting competition ahead. Contestants are required to attend the entirety of the state competition, scheduled for July 7-13, in Hattiesburg. Housing, transportation, and a vibrant lineup of events will be provided, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.
