Parade held in Prentiss honoring MLK Jr.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade was held Jan. 15 in Prentiss at noon.

The Grand Marshal for the parade was Cleveland Thompson, owner of Thompson’s Gas in Bassfield. 

Thompson is a Silver Life member of the Jefferson Davis County NAACP Branch.

“He is a person that truly believes in supporting young people and his community,” said Event Coordinator Cammie Reese.  Mr. Thompson has been a supporter of the Jefferson Davis County School District for many years.  He is a member of the Holly Springs CME Church in Bassfield, where he serves on the Board of Stewards. He is also very involved with many other auxiliaries and activities within his church.

The parade began at the Jeffersonian Motor Inn and concluded at Jefferson Davis County Middle School. Many churches, cars and floats participated in the event.
