The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met Monday morning for the first meeting of April. Bro. Jessie Holloway opened the meeting with prayer before the agenda was approved and additions were made.

Manya Sclease discussed access to her property on Sherman Mason Road in District 3. The matter was continued to give the supervisor and county engineer time to gather details and inspect the area.

Jefferson Davis County Chief Deputy Frank Riley made a request to the board for new security cards and cameras in the administration building of the new detention center. Key cards would prevent traditional keys from being duplicated and distributed. It will also prevent former employees from gaining access once they are no longer employed. The keys can be formatted and deactivated on demand. Riley provided four quotes for the new system from ADT, Eliott Data Systems, Badge Pass and Systronics. The lowest bid came from Systronics at $4989 for the card system and $5295 for the camera system with no monthly maintenance fees. The board approved the new system.
