In observance of National Child Abuse Awareness Month in April, leaders of Kids Hub Child Advocacy Center have placed a pinwheel garden on the lawn of the Jefferson Davis County courthouse.

The Center will also be hosting series of educational activities about the prevalence and prevention of child abuse and their work to protect children in April.

In addition to JDC, Pinwheel gardens were placed at the county courthouses for each of the other counties Kids Hub currently serves: Covington, Lawrence, Marion, Lamar, Forrest and Perry.

The pinwheel became the national symbol for child abuse prevention in 2008 and was chosen by Prevent Child Abuse America as a reminder of the happy childhoods wanted for all children.

There are 33 pinwheels in JDC honoring the 33 children that have been served this year in the county.

The garden is a unique and eye-opening way to visually see the number of children in Jefferson Davis County who were serviced by Kids Hub in the last year.

The pinwheels will stay up throughout the month.
