Local military brats honored during Month of the Military Child

Military Brats at J. E. Johnson Elementary were honored April 15 as part of the Month of the Military Child.
Military Brats at G. W. Carver Elementary were honored April 15 as part of the Month of the Military Child.
Military Brats at Jefferson Davis County Middle School were honored April 15 as part of the Month of the Military Child.
Military Brats at Jefferson Davis County High School were honored April 15 as part of the Month of the Military Child.
The month of April is known as the Month of the Military Child, with April 30 being National Military Brats Day.
Both events emphasizing the important role military children play in the armed forces community
The JDC MSU Extension Service, JDC Veterans Service Office and NAACP Veterans Committee 5326 recognized the students in all schools in Jefferson Davis County April 15 and honored those children of military personnel.
Fifteen were recognized at J. E. Johnson Elementary, 13 at G. W. Carver Elementary, 12 at Jefferson Davis County Middle School and 10 at Jefferson Davis County High School.
All students received gifts, gift bags, certificates and a purple cupcake.
“It was very nice to be able to do a little something for the youth and the communities we serve,” said Latonya Ramsey-Chandler, MSU Extension Agent II.
Other partners contributing were JDC Save the Children and JDC Parent Center Coordinator.
